Hara Prasad Chatterjee of Venkateswar English Medium School, Chandrasekharpur, maintained his sole lead to emerge champion in the State Open School Chess Championship, which concluded at Secretariat Recreation Club here today.
Local boy Chatterjee secured eight points in the eight-round tournament, while Ananta Prava Naik and Siba Prasad Kar finished second and third respectively. Host Orissa State chess Association working president Jayanta Kumar Hota gave away the prizes in the presence of association secretary Smruti Ranjan Das. Altogether 108 players from 12 districts participated in the tournament.
